School Volunteer Clearance

There are four things we require of every Campus Coach to volunteer with First Priority.

  1. Completed Coach Commitment
  2. Cleared Background Check
  3. Pastoral Reference Commendation
  4. School Volunteer Registration

To initiate the first three steps, simply fill out our Coach Commitment form. The fourth and final step is not actually with us, but with the school itself. Every year every Campus Coach and/or guest speaker must register as a volunteer with the school. The procedure varies by county. Click on your country below and follow the instructions provided:

Broward County

  • Go to www.browardschools.com/getinvolved and click on “ Volunteer Application” at the bottom of the right column.
  • All new volunteers MUST register.  If you received a “volunteer” badge last school year you will be automatically registered and notified via email.
  • In order to go any farther you must check both boxes giving the Broward County School Board the right to do a criminal background check of you and certifying that you are over 18 years of age.
  • Begin filling in appropriate information
  • When you get to the question “How recruited” – check off “Employer”
  • When you get to “Preferred grade level” – check both “6-8” and “9-12” (which will allow you to go to both High Schools and Middle Schools)
  • “School Preference” – Choose the school where you will get your volunteer badge.
  • “Availability” – keep it simple list one or two days and times
  • “Areas of Interest” – check “Classroom Speaker” and “Student Clubs/Activities”
  • Look over your sheet to make sure all information is correct and if it is, print out a copy and then type “yes” in the box on the left and re-enter your Florida Driver’s license number in the box on the right. Then press “Submit my Application”
  • Once you’re approved, show up at your school and present your Driver’s License – tell the staff person that you would like a Volunteer Badge (good for all year) as opposed to a visitor’s badge which grants access only a day at a time.
  • Hold on to your Volunteer Badge as a duplicate will not be issued. This badge gives you access to all Broward County Schools
